Our Story

The Neighborhood Student Success Collaborative (NSSC) is committed to empowering all undergraduate students to pursue knowledge, access resources, and develop skills needed for intellectual, social, local, and global success. These skills instill a life-long desire to learn and effect positive change in the world. We strive to close opportunity gaps for underserved students by increasing persistence, retention, and graduation rates.

We promote academic proficiency, institutional navigation and socio-emotional engagement, which support student success. We do this through: Academic advising and academic success coaching, Engagement Center resources, our student success programs (Spartan Success Scholars, DOW STEM Scholars Program, and Detroit M.A.D.E. Scholars Program) and Collaborative Learning Center (where we train peer educators across the university, proivide success skill workshops, and are experts on non-cognitive indicators of academic success).
