Hi everyone! I’m Sarah, the Facebook chair for the Beta Delta chapter! It’s been a while since the last update on MSU Gamma Phi Beta activities so here’s a 2023 spring semester recap!
In January, new leadership positions were filled and we officially welcomed the fall 2022 pledge class as initiated members! In regards to our philanthropy, our philanthropy chair woman Kendall Boelman
organized a fundraiser for Girls on the Run with Chipotle.
In February, our chapter prepared to welcome the spring pledge class of 2023 through our continuous open bidding process. Our Membership Vice President, Avery Hewitt, and the COB chair women, Rachel Bologna, organized extremely successful recruitment events and welcomed 21 new members!
As you may know, our campus faced an unthinkable tragedy on the 13th of February. We lost 3 beloved students and our campus is forever changed because of what we witnessed. Our chapter came together during this period of grieving and hosted chapter dinners at the house and chapter meetings/sisterhoods to support one another. We quickly pivoted our philanthropic efforts to supporting the Spartan Strong fund, a fund to help pay for affected students medical bills, grief counseling, and the overall care of the students on campus.
We resumed our typical chapter activities in March after the conclusion of spring break! Our PACE/Fidelity workshop for the month focused on building strong relationships with our sisters. Alumni came together for our chapter this month to provide a wonderful dinner in support of our sisters and the entire Gamma Phi Beta community. Shout out to Natalie Lennartsson for organizing such a fantastic event! We also had our date party! Thanks to our internal social chair, Katlyn Saloutos, it was a huge success! Our spring pledge class received their bigs this month and started to bond with the sisterhood even more! Next, we hosted our chapter’s formal in Detroit which was another huge success courtesy of Katlyn Saloutos. Our chapter also came together in support of the MSU baseball team during one of their home games vs Purdue.
April at MSU marks Greek life’s ‘Greek week’! This a month long initiative where all of the Panhellenic sororities and fraternities compete to fundraise as much as they can for their chapter’s philanthropy. The Beta Delta chapter supported the Spartan Strong Fund for this years greek week. Sisters participated by posting fundraising pages, donating blood, planting trees, and competing in the final celebratory dance competition. Our greek week chairs, Delaney Higgins and Chelsea Rosenberg, facilitated all the events for our chapter and deserve a massive thank you! In the midst of all the Greek week events, real wellness chair, Julia Deprez, organized an entire weeks worth of fitness events for our chapter during real wellness week.
We also celebrated our second annual Gala at the end of the semester! We hosted the family’s of our sisters for a day of celebration for the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you Katie Kaberle for organizing an amazing event! To close out the month, our sisterhood chair, Amanda Wellhausen, organized our final sisterhood, ‘GPhi Palooza’, where we danced, played yard games, and hung out with our sisters.
In May, we said goodbye to our seniors and the Michigan State campus for move out for the summer. We are relaxing during our time off but remain so excited for what the new year will bring!
I’m excited to announce that our Gphi parents tailgate will be hosted on November 4th of this year so mark your calendars!
Love,
Gphi
