Burchell Nursery Growing quality fruit, citrus and nut trees for over 70 years. Bill Burchell was just a boy in 1942. Bill Burchell was to follow in his father's footsteps.

When his parents ventured their savings to start a small nursery at their family home north of Modesto, California - in the heart of the fertile San Joaquin Valley. With a degree in pomology from the University of California at Berkeley and many years of experience in the California fruit industry, Bill's father, Irvin Burchell, possessed both the training and the expertise to succeed in the nurse

ry business. After earning his degree in pomology from U.C. Davis, Bill took his place alongside Irvin in the nursery. Together, father and son built the organization that our customers have come to trust and rely on. Bill became president in the 70’s and led the company through three decades while Bill’s son, Tom, worked in the nursery learning the process as his father did. Tom Burchell was to follow in his father’s footsteps. Tom graduated from Cal Poly State University in 1990 and joined the nursery full time. Father and son worked together until Bill’s retirement in 2004. Now Tom is president and leading the family business into the future.

65 years after Irvin Burchell opened his small business, Burchell Nursery is the recognized leader in the nursery industry, selling more than two million trees a year.
