Winchendon Winds has scheduled a series of four Sunday afternoon concerts in June, providing high quality performances for free, in part from a grant provided by the Templeton Cultural Council. The concerts will be held at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 126 Central St., Winchendon.
Dr. Lindsay Bronnenkant, UMass music faculty, returns for her third year as principal conductor.

The first concert opens with a “bang” on Sunday, June 7, as Winchendon Winds bids “Happy 250th Birthday America!” Concert selections include patriotic favorites and special appearance of a uniformed, Revolutionary War-era octet.

Other Sunday afternoon concerts will be held June 14, June 22 and June 28 with different themes.

Templeton Police would like to formally recognize Officer Caleb Matson, who was recently selected as the First Responder of the Year by the Central Mass EMS Corporation.

Officer Matson was recognized for his extraordinary medical care provided to a seriously injured party involved in a late-night motor vehicle accident. Through his quick recognition of critical injuries, calm actions under pressure, and immediate life-saving treatment, Officer Matson made a tremendous difference during a critical moment.

It is our belief that without Officer Matson’s rapid assessment and decisive care, a life may have been lost.

We are extremely proud of Officer Matson and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition. His actions reflect the highest standards of professionalism, dedication, and service to our community.
