HIGHLIGHTS from the Templeton Town Report of September 3, 2026

TREASURER/COLLECTOR - Fiscal Year 2027 property tax bills have been mailed. Property owners who have not received a bill should contact the Treasurer/Collector’s Office as soon as possible. The first-quarter tax payment was due August 3rd, and the second-quarter payment is due November 2nd. Property owners who missed the first-quarter deadline should contact the Treasurer/Collector’s Office for an updated amount due.

PARKS & RECREATION: The Fall soccer and softball seasons kick off on September 12 with over 270 children signed up to play. Three Templeton teams will compete in the Lassie League in Leominster while all soccer games will take place locally at Gilman Waite Park. These seasons run through the end of October. A special thank you to our outstanding coordinators for our softball and soccer programs, Vanessa Bernard, Travis Champagne, Brittany Hansen and Jennifer Civiok. Without their leadership these programs would not be successful.

The Fire Department is offering car seat installations. If you need help with inspecting and installing your child's car seat, please call the office at 978-939-2222 to set up an appointment.

Residential Open burning season is finished for the year. Agricultural open-burning permits may be obtained at the Fire Station.

HEALTH- MDPH reports that Templeton had 1 molecular test for COVID-19 with a negative result. WNV/EEE – Templeton remains in the low category for exposure to West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis; this is also true for the abutting cities and towns.

Beaches – it’s that unfortunate time of the year when Templeton’s beaches are closing for the season; both TF&G and PWS remained well below the prescribed limit of 235 for E. coli, staying in the range from 1 to 6.

On September 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., there will be a flu clinic in the Conference room at Town Hall, more information to come.

CONSERVATION COMMISSION- Drought conditions in the Central Region (which includes Templeton) remain at a Level 2 Significant Drought.

COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE - Progress is being made at multiple project sites around Town with CPA funding; specifically, the First Church of Templeton exterior renovations and the Baldwinville Elementary School Apartments are wrapping up!

LIBRARY- The library will be closed temporarily for our renovation. Patrons may use any of our neighboring libraries. For any questions, please email Jackie at [email protected] or call (978) 894-2780. Library hoping to be reopened in the next two weeks.

SENIOR SERVICES - In addition to our regularly scheduled programming, we had our Facebook Questions Workshop,Veterans Breakfast, ASL Class, and Community Legal Aid presentation. Attendance 105, Services 6, Volunteers 7, Rides 40.

TCTV/CABLE TELEVISION: Thank you to Pease Orchard and Baldwinville School housing developers MPZ/Capstone Communities for their commitments to TCTV Channel sponsorship donations. More sponsorships are on the way, and we are having productive conversations with Templeton business owners.

Our survey to assess the Town’s needs for the Cable TV license renewal is available at Town Hall, Scout Hall, and the Senior Center. Please fill one out and drop it in a box at these locations. The cable TV license is still vital to Templeton, as Comcast voice and Internet are also delivered over the cable lines. This is your chance to let us know what you think of the cable provider and its service.
