Middle Georgia State University Flight Department MGA is home to Georgia's only public School of Aviation with two locations in Eastman and Macon. Our School of Aviation’s job placement rates are excellent!

With a fleet of over 50 aircraft (airplanes & helicopters), MGA is one of the fastest growing Collegiate Aviation Programs in the country. We have an approved Part 141 Curriculum as well as reduced ATP minimums for our students interested in pilot careers at two locations. We have recently added the training facility at the Macon Downtown Airport (KMAC). We offer Bachelors of Science in Business A

dministration(Flight Management, Air Traffic Management and Airport Management)

MGA also offers extensive programs in both Maintenance and Air Traffic Control. Our FAA approved Part 147 AMT aviation maintenance and structural technology programs feature state of the art labs containing advanced avionics and airframe system trainers, as well as jet, turbo-prop, and reciprocating engine aircraft. Our ATC program training provides state of the art radar and tower simulators and real experience in tower operations. The ATC instructors are extremely well versed in controlling traffic and bring decades of experience to MGA.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our friend and former colleague, Dave Fiji. Dave’s professionalism, dedication to his students, and friendship left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his kindness, character, and the positive influence he had on those around him. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him throughout this difficult time.

This week MGA instructors Alec Hernandez and Yamilli Cruz had an incredible time hanging out with the bright minds at Pearl Stephens Elementary for Career Day! There’s nothing quite like seeing that spark of curiosity when a student hears about a day in the life of a pilot for the first time.

One of our instructors had a busy week and sends and big congratulations to her student, Alexander Johnson, on his first solo at MGA.

​When she’s not in the cockpit teaching the next generation of pilots how to stay calm under pressure, Elizabeth Vazhenin, (Liza) is putting that same focus into training. This weekend, all those early mornings paid off.

​We are incredibly proud to announce that Liza took home GOLD at the 2KM race in Lima, Peru! 🥇🌊🇵🇪

​Open water swimming is a lot like flying solo for the first time: it requires trust in your training, constant course corrections, and the grit to keep going when things get tough.
