Registration is now open for the UWEC Summer Double Reed Intensive (June 26-July 1) and the FREE(!) Double Reed Day April 3rd. Go to www.OboeForEveryone.com to register.

At the Summer Intensive we'll be performing and learning music from traditionally excluded composers and helping students develop individual projects and learning goals. Come join us! If you'd like to donate to our scholarship fund to offset the Summer Intensive costs for a needy student, please let me know.

The 2020 University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire Honor Band will consist of FREE virtual masterclass for each instrument. Starting at 10:30am CST, Instrumental Faculty from the Wind and Percussion Area are offering FREE virtual masterclasses to students and teachers. In addition to masterclasses, students have the chance to meet and talk with Music Majors. Students can learn about applying for college, college life, what it takes to be a music major, and the many opportunities college offers to students. All sessions will be through Zoom. Advanced registration is required so we can send you the Zoom link.

It must really be tough to be a high school double reed musician right now. I KNOW students are skeptical of online learning, but UW Eau Claire Double Reed Camp is going ONLINE June 28-July 2, with a mission to bring a sense of community and fun back to the lives of student musicians!

We'll have a variety of interactive classes, individual lessons, reed work sessions, concerts, hang out times for participants to get to know one another and more. Our faculty include bassoonists Trent Jacobs, Alex Widstrand and oboists Lindabeth Binkley and Carrie Vecchione (and myself).

Part of that "more" are 10 INCREDIBLE guest oboists and bassoonists joining us for masterclasses: Stephen Braunstein! Claire Brazeau! Peter Cooper! Peter Kolkay! Frank Morelli! Timothy McGovern! In addition to our amazing staff including Carrie Vecchione (McPhail Center for the Arts), Lindabeth Binkley (Central Michigan University and Christa Garvey (UW Eau Claire), we have the following GUEST ARTISTS PRESENTING MASTERCLASSES at camp this year:

June 28-Jul 2 2020 UW Eau Claire High School Double Reed Camp has a BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR! Plans are underway for a VIRTUAL CAMP. We're working out the details as of yet, but we WILL give you a really cool, INTERACTIVE double reed experience.

Lessons! Masterclasses! Reed Making! Live performances! And some really fantastic guest artists!

And we're even going to PLAY TOGETHER--more on that one later.

The fees will be MUCH LESS since we won't be in person and staying in the dorms. And no dorm food! NO PAYMENT WILL BE COLLECTED AT THIS TIME, BUT WE DO NEED YOU TO APPLY TO RESERVE A "SPOT."
