Hey friends, it's us again at MAC!

Texas Legislature is trying to take away the "Texas Dream Act", which allows people under DACA or without immigration status to 1. pay the same tuition rate as anyone else living in the state 2. be eligible for state financial assistance and university grants under TASFA.

If you ever used TASFA for financial aid (or knew someone that did), we encourage you to make a 1-minute call to the numbers below tell them to vote NO on voting for HB 232. OR click the link below and leave an electronic testimony on why they should VOTE NO on HB 232.

DACA acaba de pasar en la casa de representantes! Nos queda algunos pasos mas para la victoria final: Esta propuesta se manda al Senado y es donde tenemos que hacer la presion mas fuerte y despues si pasa en el senado va al escritorio del presidente. Sigamos con el esfuerzo que nos ha traido hasta aqui!
"Hoy, en una votación histórica, la Cámara de Representantes de EE. UU. Aprobó la Ley de Sueños y Promesas de 2019, HR 6, que proporcionaría una hoja de ruta hacia la ciudadanía para 2.5 millones de soñadores, beneficiarios de Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA) y Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) y titulares de la salida forzada diferida (DED). Además, el Dream and Promise Act contiene disposiciones fundamentales para la educación superior, incluido el acceso a la ayuda financiera federal para los beneficiarios.

Instamos al Senado a avanzar de forma bipartidista y aprobar una legislación similar que proteja a estas poblaciones. " - La Union del Pueblo Entero - LUPE

We have some more steps for the final victory: This proposal is sent to the Senate and it is where we have to make the strongest pressure and then if it passes in the Senate, it goes to the president's desk. Let's continue with the effort that has brought us to this point!
"Today, in a historic vote, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Dream and Promise Act of 2019, H.R. 6, which would provide a roadmap to citizenship for 2.5 million Dreamers, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) & Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) holders. Additionally, the Dream and Promise Act contains critical higher education provisions, including access to federal financial aid for beneficiaries.

We urge the Senate to move forward on a bipartisan basis and pass similar legislation protecting these populations." -LUPE
