Delta Zeta - Theta Omicron UTRGV ︎ Theta Omicron Chapter
Love that is ever steadfast ♡︎

We live by our creed ♥

To the world,
I promise temperance and insight and courage,
To crusade for justice,
To seek the truth and defend it always;

To those whom my life may touch in slight measure,
May I give graciously
Of what is mine;

To my friends,
Understanding and appreciation;

To those closer ones,
Love that is ever steadfast;

To my mind,
Growth;

To myself,
Faith
That I may walk truly
In the light of the Flame.

-- Dorothy Mumford Williams, Alpha Zeta (Adelphi University), 1939

Today is International Badge Day!

Delta Zetas everywhere are wearing their badges with pride, and joining sorority women around the world in “wearing our letters on our hearts.” Tell us what your Delta Zeta Badge means to you, and share your Badge Day photos with us in the comments below!

Do you know the history behind the design of our beloved Delta Zeta badge? Check out the Spring 1957 edition of The LAMP in the Delta Zeta Archives to learn about the young artist who designed our badge using the symbols that our Founders wished to incorporate. It's how little the design of our badge has changed since its original creation!

Our history as a women’s organization is still being written even as you read this. While the women of our past created Delta Zeta into what we know it as now, it is the women of today who are continuing to walk truly and the women of tomorrow who will keep the light of the flame burning brightly for generations to come. Follow along this month as we celebrate incredible Delta Zetas from yesterday, today and tomorrow for !

Today we remember and reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Did you know: MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Just as our Creed states, "To those whom my life may touch in slight measure, may I give graciously of what is mine;" our members strive to make an impact in the world. Today we encourage our members to take time and give graciously to their communities by volunteering or seeking out a new opportunity to give back.

How are you making a difference in your community today?

“To give graciously of what is mine . . .” are words from our Creed that inspires 119 years of Delta Zeta sisterhood. Today, during Founders Day Challenge, Delta Zetas and friends can honor the legacy of Alfa, Mary, Anna, Julia, Mabelle and Anne – and honor what Delta Zeta has become.

We love Delta Zeta for all that she is. And we love Delta Zeta for what she is yet to be.

Your support during our one day, nine hours and two minutes of giving helps to write Delta Zeta’s next chapter. Helping us to achieve our vision to inspire action and change lives. Your gift inspires our sisters both inside and outside the classroom, in leadership development programming, professional networking and so much more!

For the first hour of Founders Day Challenge, your gift will be doubled thanks to the generosity of Kim Anspach Rutkowski, Foundation Trustee, Delta Tau – Temple (PA). Join us right now to contribute to the future of Delta Zeta: dz.trulygiving.org.

Delta Zeta alumna excels in the traditionally male-dominated trucking industry and serves as a role model for women in the field!

Jodie Teuton-Oliphant, Kappa Alpha- Nicholls State (LA), the co-founder and vice president of Kenworth of Louisiana, was honored with the 10th annual “Influential Woman In Trucking” award presented by the Women In Trucking Association (WIT). The announcement came during the WIT Accelerate! Virtual Conference & Expo. The award recognizes women in the trucking industry who make or influence key decisions, have proven records of responsibility and serve as a role model to other women. In 2018, Jodie became the first woman to be elected chair of the American Truck Dealers (ATD).

We honor and remember the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, also known as Patriot Day, when the world was irrevocably changed. A day whose tragic reach continues to impact the lives of even our youngest Delta Zeta members, many of whom were not yet born. Among those we lost were two Delta Zeta sisters:

• Alicia Titus, Alpha – Miami, a flight attendant on United Airlines Flight 175.
• Melissa Vincent, Omicron Theta – SUNY/Oswego, who worked for Alliance Consulting Group, 102nd Floor of the World Trade Center.

Please join us in remembering our sisters and those closer ones, including friends and family members affected by this tragic day, whose love was, and continues to be, ever steadfast.
