which will take place February 29-March 6, 2016. We invite you to join us
as we celebrate a momentous year in the history of the Rio Grande Valley! The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was created by the
Texas Legislature
in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the
resources and assets of its two legacy institutions, UT Brownsville and
UT Pan American, to create a regional university that spans over 100 miles
with campuses in Brownsville, Edinburg and Harlingen. As one of UTRGV’s
legacy signature programs, FESTIBA was established by UT Pan American
in 2006 to promote the importance of literacy, culture and the arts to
students, parents, educators and community members. With its theme: Nuestras Raíces - Celebrating our Cultural Heritage
Through Arts and Literacy, FESTIBA 2016 will explore the rich cultural
and artistic treasures of our region and discover the significance of our
cultural heritage as a valuable tool to educate our children and unite our
community. Join us for all the wonderful events we have planned for
FESTIBA 2016 as we expand our festival across the Valley to include the
Edinburg and the Brownsville campuses.
