Dear students,
I have confirmed with IPP, UTRGV Study Abroad Office, on June 3rd about the Asia Trip 2022. The Asia trip was also approved by Dean Block and School of Art & Design Chair on September 21, 2021. The time frame and term of the Asia trip 2022 will be arranged as a minimester 2022 (May 15 – June 2, 2022). The destination countries of the 2022 Asia trip will be Korea (2-weeks) and Japan (one-week). The cities we will be visiting are Seoul, Ansan, Busan, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. After the main Asia trip in Korea and Japan, you will be eligible to join an additional 4-week free trip in Taiwan for being an English teacher in Taiwan. The Asia Trip course for 2022 will be ARTS-4337 Digital Photography opened to all UTRGV students without prerequisite. If you really consider to participate the Asia trip 2022, please check the following information, and apply financial aid for participating the Asia trip and Taiwan English Camp at your earliest convenience.
1. Visit a local Post Office or City Hall to get your passport book if you don’t have one.
• If you have a passport card only, you still need to get the passport book as the passport card is valid for traveling Mexico and Canada only.
• The general duration of getting a passport book is 6-10 weeks during the pandemic.
2. Prepare your camera gear if you don’t have a camera and a tripod.
3. Enroll the ARTS-4337 Digital Photography class for Summer 2022 minimester when the course registration can be available online.
4. Apply $2,500-$5,000 Gilman scholarship if you are eligible to apply. ([email protected])
5. Apply $500-$2000 International Education Fee (IEF) Scholarship. ([email protected])
6. Apply FASFA at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
7. Let your parents know your plan for the Summer 2022.
8. Contact Mr. Luis Alcocer, our IPP Specialist, who deals our Asia trip in IPP.
9. Get your vaccination record card before the application.
10. Begin your money-saving for the trip.

If you are a Mexican citizen but you are living in the United States as a permanent resident and your spoken English is fluent, you are welcome to join the English camp after the main Asia trip.
