⭐️Faculty Friday Spotlight⭐️
This fall, UTRGV is proud to launch an exciting new graduate program: the Master of Science in Marketing, With Michael Flores, being the Graduate Program Coordinator and a lecturer in the Department of Marketing. Here is a little about him and the program:
"My journey to this role has been anything but traditional. Before entering academia full-time, I served in counterintelligence operations, followed by executive roles in tourism and destination marketing. That real-world experience shapes the way I teach and support students today. At UTRGV, I focus on areas like digital marketing, AI in marketing, and international business, and I’ve had the privilege of leading several successful study abroad programs.
What excites me most about this new MS in Marketing program is the chance to shape its future and guide the students who choose to be part of it. I’m especially passionate about mentoring—helping students uncover their professional strengths, connect with real-world opportunities through applied projects, internships, and global experiences, and ultimately, grow into confident marketing professionals.
Students in this program will graduate with a strong foundation in marketing analytics, strategy, and consumer behavior. They’ll know how to use data to drive decisions, lead marketing efforts, and adapt to the fast-changing digital world—skills that are incredibly valuable in today’s job market.
What truly makes our program unique is its balance between advanced analytics and real-world application. From hands-on projects and case studies to opportunities in global marketing, students are learning by doing. Plus, the program is designed for flexibility—perfect for both working professionals and full-time students.
