UCO Club Model United Nations

Model United Nations (henceforth to be referred to as Model UN) is a name given to conferences that focus on simulating events for student delegates. The conferences encourage students to research topics that the world faces or has faced. Each school is assigned a country to represent (henceforth to be referred to as school delegations). Each school delegation is responsible for researching a seri

es of topics (designated by the Model UN conferences) so that representatives of school delegations may be prepared to discuss issues that the body of delegations, as a whole (henceforth to be referred to as conference delegation) decides to act upon. The twist in the process is that each school delegation participating in the conference represents a different country. When the conference convenes, student delegates are responsible for solving issues from the perspective of their selected country. These conferences provide students with an educational experience that is unlike experiences that take place in a classroom. Model UN conferences provide students with exposure to culturally and geographically different perspectives and an opportunity to practice diplomacy.
