🎉 Eagles Taking Flight

Impact doesn’t always happen in an office. Sometimes it happens in relationships and service.

Congratulations to Jeremiah Lorance, a Junior studying Computer Science with a focus in AI at Oklahoma Christian University, who has accepted a summer internship serving as a Celebrate Recovery (The Landing) Leader and Events Intern with Memorial Road Church and Oklahoma Christian University.

This summer, Jeremiah will continue mentoring teenagers through The Landing while also supporting campus events, helping plan and execute key programs happening at OC.

“I am excited to continue helping the teenagers a part of The Landing that I have built relationships with and walk through life with them. I’m also excited to work in the events office this summer and help prepare for the many events happening on campus.”

Jeremiah has been intentional in building connections through networking opportunities and engaging with Career Services along the way, helping position him for this opportunity.

🎉 Eagles Taking Flight

When preparation meets purpose, meaningful opportunities follow.

Congratulations to Drew Hamil, a Junior studying Accounting, Music, and Vocational Ministry at Oklahoma Christian University, who has accepted a summer internship as a Finance/Accounting Intern with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma in Durant.

In this role, Drew will gain hands-on experience across multiple departments, building a deeper understanding of how financial operations work together within a large organization.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to intern in finance and accounting with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma because it’s a great way for me to get real, hands-on experience. What stands out to me most is their focus on faith, family, and culture. I’m especially looking forward to spending time in different departments and learning how everything works together. I think that kind of experience will be really valuable for my future and help me better understand where I fit in the field.”

Drew has been intentional in preparing for this opportunity through resume and cover letter development, one-on-one advising, and active participation in the Eagle Flight Plan.

Some journeys come full circle in the best way.

Congratulations to Shelly Ryan, a Senior in Elementary Education at Oklahoma Christian University, who has accepted a full-time position as a 5th Grade Teacher at Harmony Public School in Atoka, Oklahoma.

After serving as a paraprofessional in the same 5th-grade classroom for the past three years, this role is a natural and meaningful next step as she transitions into leading her own classroom.

“I have served as a paraprofessional in the 5th-grade class at Harmony for 3 years now, and this just feels like the next best transition into teaching. I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to helping my students reach their potential. I am excited to grow into myself as a new teacher as well. What an exciting time!”

Moments like this reflect dedication, consistency, and a heart for serving others.

🎉 Eagles Taking Flight

There is something powerful about the OC network at work.

Congratulations to Tyler Levering, a Junior in Mechanical Engineering at Oklahoma Christian University, who has accepted a summer internship as a Planning Engineering Intern with Devon Energy in Oklahoma City.

Tyler will be working with the planning department in Devon Tower, helping optimize operations and gaining exposure to a new industry.

“I am very excited because it is a new industry I have never worked in before. OC was actually my primary connection. The engineering department had a planning engineer, who is an OC alum, come speak, and that’s where I made my initial connection.”

Tyler has also been intentional in preparing for this opportunity by taking advantage of the Eagle Flight Plan and engaging with Career Services resources along the way.

This is exactly what it looks like when alumni, faculty, and students come together, and when students take initiative, to create real opportunities.

🎉 Eagles Taking Flight

We love seeing our students step into opportunities early and begin building meaningful experience right away.

Congratulations to Isaac Bradford, a Freshman studying Computer Science with a focus in Cybersecurity at Oklahoma Christian University, who has accepted a summer internship as an IT Infrastructure Design Intern with Oklahoma Christian University.

In this role, Isaac will be developing and maintaining critical backend systems while also working to strengthen physical campus security. His work will directly contribute to improving the reliability and performance of OC’s web services and overall digital presence.

“I am most excited to improve the reliability and performance of Oklahoma Christian’s web services, which will tremendously bolster the university’s digital reputation. Without OC, I would not have this amazing opportunity to work with people whom I love and for a mission that is more than worth pursuing. Glory be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”

Starting this level of hands-on experience as a freshman is a strong step toward a successful future in the field.

We love celebrating the many ways our students use their talents.

Congratulations to Ryan Dillinger, a Sophomore in Electrical Engineering at Oklahoma Christian University, who has been selected as a member of New Reign A Ca****la for a summer internship experience.

This opportunity will allow Ryan to travel across the country, leading worship and performing with a talented group while continuing to grow as a musician and leader.

“It is such an honor to be able to represent OC this summer! I have always had a love for a ca****la worship music, and now having the opportunity to travel the country, getting to worship with such an amazing group is a huge blessing. OC has helped prepare me for this role by expanding my networking opportunities and giving me the chance to practice singing with others.”

🎉 Eagles Taking Flight

We love seeing our students step confidently into their careers and apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways.

Congratulations to Brody Schuermann, a Senior in Electrical Engineering at Oklahoma Christian University, who has accepted a full-time role as a Controls Engineer with OSCO Controls here in Oklahoma City.

In this role, Brody will be designing and supporting custom control panels for a variety of industrial applications, gaining hands-on experience with real systems and working through the full engineering process from design to implementation and troubleshooting.

“I am most excited about gaining hands-on experience with real systems and being involved in the full engineering process from design to implementation and troubleshooting. Oklahoma Christian helped prepare me through my coursework, as well as connecting me with this opportunity through the career fair.”

This is a great example of how career fairs, networking, and strong academic preparation come together to create real opportunities for our students.
