This role serves as a primary advisor for Fraternity/Sorority Life (FSL), overseeing two governing councils and leading community-wide initiatives that enhance leadership, accountability, and values-based engagement.

“I am from Choctaw, Oklahoma. I have worked at the SIC for a year now. I love reading and drawing, as well as spontaneous adventures. Rollercoasters and adrenaline rushed give me life.”

What is your favorite thing about UCO or the SIC?
“My favorite thing about UCO is the forensic science department, it is absolutely amazing, beautiful, and the professors are top notch. I also love the community that the SIC gives students and the gorgeous campus that is UCO.”

Join Black Student Association’s (BSA) as they host “Panel of Black Excellence” where Panelists will come in and talk about how they got to a successful point in their careers. Located in the Nigh University Center Ballroom A from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Do you want to learn how to do line dances we love here at University of Central Oklahoma? Come SPBoogie down with the Student Programming Board in the Cherokee Room on the second floor of the Nigh University Center! Celebrate Black History Month with BSA at Fast-paced Amazing Race–style competition celebrating Black History Month! Teams will race through a series of interactive stations featuring challenges based on influential Black leaders, cultural moments, music, art, inventions, and historic events. Don’t miss out on the time from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. located in the Nigh University Center: Carl Albert Room 300.

The Spring Career and Internship Fair connects students looking for job, internship and graduate school opportunities with employers and graduate schools. This event is STLR tagged in the Health & Wellness Tenet.

Black Student Association (BSA) has another line-up for another one of their anticipated events: Step into a reimagined era of art, music, and expression at Harlem Renaissance… Revamped! Join BSA for a night that blends the iconic creativity of the 1920s with today’s cultural flair. Enjoy live performances, fashion, poetry, dance, and artistic showcases that honor the brilliance of the original Harlem Renaissance while highlighting modern Black artistry. This week’s SIC Spotlight is Kennedei Taylor! ✨

Kennedei is a sophomore studying Psychology here at UCO! She currently serves as the Co-Director of Promotions for TEDxUCO, a mentor for Crowning: Her, and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Along with working in the SIC, she also works at Aerie Offline in Penn Square Mall.

“My favorite thing about the SIC is the fact that I can work with my friends, talk, or do homework all in one place. It’s a very high-traffic spot that has endless opportunities, and everyone can feel safe and comfy!”

The Black Student Association will host its annual Black History Month Kickoff Celebration, featuring guest speaker Apostle Rickey Hunt Sr. This event will open the month with inspiration, reflection, and unity as we honor the legacy, culture, and continued impact of Black excellence. Students, faculty, and community members are invited to join us for an engaging program that sets the tone for a month of celebration, education, and empowerment.
