For I wanted to share the history of Victor Montejo. As a school teacher in a small Guatemalan village, Montejo witnessed how the armie's conflicts with Mayan people persisted for over thirty years in civil war which erupted into its most violent episode in the 1980s.

For Indigenous People's Day, I want to recommend In League Against King Alcohol: Native American Women and the Women's Christian Temperance Movement by Thomas J. Lappas. Lappas highlights the vital role Native American women played in temperance movements across the United States and how these participants utilized the Women’s Christian Temperance Union's framework to help women maintain active roles in their communities.
