SIUE SOAR Helping students overcome social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education SOAR Students - did you know you can text the SOAR office?

You can send a message to 618-706-9665 and we will reply as soon as we can. If you text during the evenings or on the weekend, we'll respond when we return to the office. SOAR (Student Opportunities for Academic Results) is a specialized academic advising department that provides enhanced support to help students transition to college. First-year students who are first-generation college students,

Pell-eligible, and/or part of an underrepresented group are eligible for selection to SOAR. SOAR students benefit from:

Transition Support: SOAR students are selected as incoming freshmen and are provided with support and resources to aid in the transition to college life. Specialized Guidance: Our committed and caring team of academic advisors, success coach, and staff is experienced in proactively serving and mentoring students who face a unique set of needs and challenges. Extra measures are taken to address early warning signs, connect students to resources, and involve parents as necessary. Foundational Programming: In addition to academic advising, SOAR provides supplemental academic support and opportunities for personal development and career readiness.

Textbooks must be returned by 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 9

Textbook Service would like to remind everyone that all textbooks must be returned no later than 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 to avoid the cost of your books being charged to your student account. Do not wait until the last minute to return your books! Textbooks can be returned at any time during the business hours listed below.

We are located in the lower level of the Morris University Center (MUC), Room 0016. When returning your books please follow the signs to enter in the correct door and make sure that the books are scanned off your account by a staff member at one of the registers before returning the books to the shelves.

Avoid the lines and help the Cougar Cupboard and fellow students at the same time. Bring at least five non-perishable food items and you can skip the line and head directly to the first available return station.

Textbook Service Returns Extended Hours:
Monday, May 4-Thursday, May 7- 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday, May 8, 8 a.m.-4:30pm
Saturday, May 9 - 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

If you are unable to return your books in person, the books can be returned by mail or you can have a relative or trusted friend return them in person for you. Books that are returned by mail must be postmarked no later than May 9, 2025. For more info, see https://www.siue.edu/textbook/
