“I am so excited to pursue my dream of helping people by attending the nursing program at Butler. I have been working in a hospital setting for over two years now, and being able to help people in their most vulnerable times and having them trust me has been the most valuable work I have ever done. I hope to become trained in the ICU or even as a float nurse so that I can build as many skills as I can to help a wider population. Ideally, I would like to continue working where I'm currently at since the nurses who I work with have inspired and supported me in this decision.”

When LPN Advanced Standing student Hayley Campbell-Zirkel lost her El Dorado home to a fire, her nursing instincts kicked in — getting her family to safety and showing incredible strength in the face of the unexpected.

With classes starting the very next day, Hayley showed up determined to keep going — and thanks to the compassion of Butler Nursing faculty and the support of the community, she didn’t have to do it alone. From scrubs and supplies to encouragement and understanding, she was met with care every step of the way.
