We offer outstanding undergraduate degrees in Music Education, Performance, Theory/Composition and Commercial Music. Our graduate program offers degrees in Music Education and Music Performance with additional emphases in conducting, composition, and theory. While located in the far southwest tip of the state of Texas, our faculty and students are visible a

cross the country and around the world in major conferences, performance venues, and leading academic journals. In fact, we are in a different time zone than the rest of the state. With our Mexican sister city Juarez, whose population is 1.8 million, these two cities combine to form the largest binational metropolitan area in the world. UTEP Students, there is still time to register for summer 2026 music classes, including MUSL 1324, Music Appreciation; MUSL 1327, Jazz to Rock; MUSL 3326, Social History of Rock, and MUST 1311, Music Fundamentals I. All these classes are offered online. MUSL 1324 and MUSL 1327 count toward the Creative Arts requirement in the University Core Curriculum. MUSL 3326 counts toward the Block Elective requirement for Fine and Performing Arts in the Bachelor of Arts degree, the upper-level Music History requirements in the current Bachelor of Music degree, and the electives in some minors. MUST 1311 counts toward the Commercial Music & Recording minor. If you’re taking MUST 1313, Music Theory I this fall and need a refresher, MUST 1311 is highly recommended.
