A team of UTEP scientists found that ni****ne va**ng during the teen years may reshape the brain's reward system in a way that keeps ni****ne-seeking behavior alive into adulthood. 🧠

The work brings together researchers from the UTEP School of Pharmacy and the The University of Texas at El Paso-Psychology Department in the College of Liberal Arts.

🎉 Congratulations to our P4 student, Caitlyn Lucore, and rising P3 student, Getsemani Arteaga, on receiving the Judges’ Choice: Impact on Pharmacy Award at the Texas Pharmacy Association’s 3rd Annual Student Pharmacist Poster Showcase! 💙🧡

Their project, “Advocacy Beyond the Capitol,” highlights the impact of bringing advocacy directly into the communities where patients receive care to better understand the local experiences, challenges, and barriers patients face across the region.

We are proud of Caitlyn and Getsemani for their commitment to advancing the profession of pharmacy, strengthening community partnerships, and advocating for policies that improve patient care across the region. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

🎉 Congratulations to our P4 student, Samantha Pages, on graduating from the Rising Academics program at the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP)! Her graduation was celebrated during the AACP Annual Meeting in Grapevine, Texas. During the meeting, Samantha also presented her research poster, “Is In-Person Class Attendance Really Necessary?”, highlighting her commitment to advancing pharmacy education through scholarly inquiry. Samantha was mentored by Dr. Michelle Martinez as her home mentor and Dr. James J. Nawarskas from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy as her group mentor. We are proud of Samantha’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing the impact she will continue to make in pharmacy education and practice. 👏💙🧡

We had a great time participating in the Immersion Community Event at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center!

The event provided an immersive experience for incoming medical and dental students to learn about the local community and the many organizations and resources dedicated to improving community health. We were proud to represent the UTEP School of Pharmacy, connect with future healthcare professionals, and highlight the important role pharmacists play in advancing patient care.

Thank you to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for hosting this meaningful event. We look forward to continued collaboration in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
