Blockchain Technology

Speakers: Professor Dr. Luc Longpré

Abstract:
Block chain technology uses cryptographic tools, proof of work methods and decentralized consensus to maintain a ledger that maintains integrity without a central control entity. It was first successfully implemented to drive the bitcoin network. In this presentation, we explain this technology as implemented in the bitcoin network, including the data structures on which it is based, how it achieves decentralization, how transactions are performed, how the ledger is maintained using proof of work, the evolution of specialized computing for this maintenance.

Our meetings will be held every other Wednesday at 6-7:15pm in the College of Business Room BUSN 302. The first meeting will be this week on the 28th. I hope to see everyone attend our meetings!!
