El Paso Texas County seat of El Paso County El Paso is a community of 649,121 located on the Rio Grande at the extreme western corner of Texas.

El Paso has an arid climate receiving just over 9 inches of precipitation each year. El Paso has a vibrant downtown and many historic neighborhoods. In 2010, El Paso received the All American City Award. It is also the home of the University of Texas El Paso and the Texas School of Mines & Metallurgy.
