Engineering students traveled this summer to Argentina to learn about sustainability. The program was a partnership with the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR). We would like to thank UNR and the Asociacion Argentina de Carreteras for the opportunities they provided to all the students. The first engineering summer faculty led program in Europe was a success! The program was a partnership with the Czech Technical University which focused on the topic of Smart Cities. Congratulations to all the engineering students who were part of this program!

A group of 10 engineering students traveled this weekend to Guadalajara, Mexico to start their Smart Cities research at the University of Guadalajara as part of the National Science Foundation funded International Research Experience for Students (IRES) program. Dr. Natalia Villanueva is the principal investigator of the program and traveled this week with the students.

This week 16 engineering students start the two week faculty led program abroad at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic. The two UTEP faculty traveling with them and teaching the Smart Cities course are Dr. Kelvin Cheu and Dr. Carlos Ferregut . Faculty from CTU will also be teaching this interesting course to UTEP and CTU students

"U.S.-Brazil Transdisciplinary Study Abroad Program on Peace Engineering

University of Texas at El Paso and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná have developed a new study abroad program for students that will focus on peace engineering to train future engineers on finding innovative engineering solutions through an understanding of the balance between sustainability, social equity, entrepreneurship, community engagement, innovation, and leadership to improve the well-being of people."
