Favorite Building: St. Peter’s

The entire trip has been so fun, from being in the Colosseum to roaming the streets of Venice, to climbing a mountain in Florence! I’ll never forget the places I’ve visited and the people I went with.

Favorite Building: Alhambra Nasir Palace

No screen or postcard can match the feeling of standing before a building. Being wrapped in its atmosphere, sensing its weight, its rhythm, the quiet conversation it has with the land and the people around it. Some things can only be understood by being there.

I learned that I could TOTALLY live in Europe for the rest of my life. Getting to build bonds with my studio mates was by far my favorite memory though.

Favorite City: Granada or Venice, impossible decision

Favorite Building: St. Peter’s Basilica

The European street life absolutely blew me away, especially in Venice; the conversations, the sounds, the food, the sense of community. It’s something we often lack in US cities, and I pray everyone gets to experience it at some point in their lives.

Favorite City: Barcelona

While traveling through Spain and Italy, I learned that every region has its own unique rhythm—whether it’s Rome’s ancient grandeur, Venice’s dreamy canals, or Barcelona’s modernist energy—but nothing prepared me for the awe of seeing Gaudí’s surreal Sagrada Família. The Sagrada Família is my favorite building because of its breathtaking blend of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, with every detail infused with meaning by Antoni Gaudí. What surprises me most is how it feels alive—the columns like towering trees, the light filtering through stained glass like a forest canopy—though it’s been under construction for over 140 years the vision was seen from the start!

Favorite City: Granada. For the people, the weather, the scenery… while the architecture was scarce, I loved the spirit of the place and the welcoming atmosphere.

Favorite Building: Siena Cathedral

I expected a lot from this trip, and I’m happy to say that my cup has been filled and spilled over. I learned that this architecture tour has very little to do with buildings (in the grand scheme of it all). It’s about the city we’re in, the culture we get to experience, the history we are immersed in, and, of course, still the architecture, but more than just buildings, we study ideas and people and the thought processes of people we now idolize. I’m grateful for this experience, for all I’ve learned and for the growth I’ve enjoyed over the last 4 weeks.

Each day felt like a chance to experience something new and learn something new. But if I had to choose just one favorite memory, it would be visiting the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain. I had always watched Real Madrid games on TV and dreamed of one day seeing the stadium in person. When that day finally came, It felt unreal! I’m forever grateful for this trip. The best part was being able to share it with my parents and show them a part of the world they had never seen before.

Favorite Building: Colosseum

I loved just being able to hangout with people outside of my friend circle. There were several times where I found myself having a meal with students that I don’t talk to much normally and having great conversations that I might not have had otherwise, especially with being Interior Design, as I don’t see the architecture students much anymore.

Favorite City: Venice for its views, Rome for its architecture

Favorite Building: plaza espanga

One of my favorite memories from the trip was riding scooters with los bros in Rome. We were a nuisance on the streets, the busses hated to see us coming. In all seriousness, I enjoyed getting to explore and learn the layout of the city’s. I would definitely recommend to learn how to use the public transportation and to not be afraid to get lost or wander in different directions. Some of the coolest and most original experiences were when I just ended up wandering with a random cluster of friends on the trip and we all explored together. In the beginning of the trip I was not confident in my drawing capabilities, but looking back I appreciated struggling through my sketches and learning different techniques that worked for me and developing my own style. Overall it was an amazing experience and I thank God for making this trip a possibility for me, it has helped form and deepened my love and perspective on architecture.

Favorite City: Venice

Favorite Building: Sagrada Familia

Having read and heard about Europe in some form or another my entire life, I did not know what to expect, but in our travels what I found the most interesting was the realization that behind everything was just ordinary people like me or anyone else, and I think that’s the biggest takeaway? That at the end of the day, we’re really all not that different from anyone else.

Favorite Building: St Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City

This trip has truly shown me how much history is in every city how each building plays a unique role in shaping the urban landscape. One of my favorite memories was climbing all 551 steps to the top of St. Peter’s Basilica. The view from the top made every step completely worth it!
