Intensive English Program at Elgin Community College Learn English Faster in our focal skills based intensive English program at Elgin Community College!

Want to learn English quickly and move on to your academic classes faster? Then our innovative focal skills based Intensive English Program is for you! Our program offers small class sizes and uses the Focal Skills Approach with four modules or courses: listening, reading, writing and pre-collegiate (integrated skills). Unlike most programs which require that you stay in the same level for a minim

um of 1 semester, our program gives you the opportunity to move or enter the program every 4 weeks! This lets students who are merely refreshing their skills to move through quickly. The module format allows you to focus on the skills you need the most and in an order that builds. In addition, you get your choice of electives which change every four weeks! The first step is to take the computer based placement test. The program offers a community atmosphere that fosters communication, learning and fun as students progress in their skills, make friends and engage in opportunities to practice and field trips to explore Chicago and the local area.

Tegan made it home safely without too much drama and Mr Darcy was so happy to see her! We were sad to see her leave so soon after she got here, but tamales were made and eaten, and Nia made her a belated birthday cake! So many travel woes; however, we were lucky to have in person hugs!
