In the 2016/2017 school year Sigma Alpha Omega went from being a simple idea to a reality that gives MACU students the opportunity to become "One in Christ Through Unity in Sisterhood". After being officially initiated into the national organization on December 10th, 2017, the sisters of Sigma Alpha Omega completed several successful service projects, one of which being our clothing drive in Febru
ary. Through this we were able to donate over 300 clothing items to a local Elizabeth City outreach group. In June of 2017, Kelly Anders and Kristyn Carter represented the Beta Gamma Chapter in Greenville, NC at the Sigma Alpha Omega National Convention where Kelly Anders was recognized individually for receiving the Sister of Promise Award for 2017. Though SAO is just beginning to gain its identity, the impact of this organization can already be seen on the MACU campus as well as in our surrounding community. We are continually grateful for the support and guidance of the Staff, Faculty, and Trustees of Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
