ECSU is offering a unique program for new, first-time freshmen. Vikings PREP is a dynamic summer bridge program designed to support incoming first-year students in their transition to college. This immersive experience equips students with the foundation to thrive at ECSU and beyond.

During this five-week residential experience, students can earn college credit, adjust to college life living on campus, and be Viking Ready for FREE. 💙

One year ago today, Chancellor Dr. S. Keith Hargrove stepped onto the campus of Elizabeth City State University and began his journey with the Viking family.

Since that day, he has immersed himself in campus life, celebrated student achievements, strengthened community partnerships, and advanced the mission of ECSU with purpose and vision.

Using one of the oldest oak trees on ECSU’s campus as their living laboratory, ECSU biology students have become the first researchers from a historically Black college or university (HBCU) to participate in the American Campus Tree Genome Project and have their work accepted into a worldwide genetic database.
