Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest
DON'T MISS THE FALL PLANT SALE SEPTEMBER 18 & 19
Fall is for planting! Cooler temperatures mean less stress on newly planted trees, shrubs, and perennials, and you’ll typically use less water. Fall planting also gives plants time to establish their root systems and acclimate to their new soil before going dormant for the winter, so they’re ready to burst with life come spring.
You'll find a great selection of trees, shrubs, and perennials at the Fall Plant Sale on Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19. From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., you can choose from a variety of native plants to beautify your landscape and support pollinators and wildlife. Native plants are well adapted to the growing conditions and once established require less work than most non-native plants.
This year, Bernheim’s Fall Plant Sale has some exciting new plants for your landscape. Nursery manager, Casey Hammett, introduces three plants you may want to consider, including native perennial Blue Mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum), Missouri Gooseberry (Ribes missouriense), a unique fruit-bearing shrub, and Full Speed A Hedge® American Pillar Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis). Read more about these plants.
Every purchase supports the Bernheim's horticulture team and its ongoing work.
