This week, we celebrated the completion of our Creating Home Campaign with our staff, Board of Trustees, and the D&E family. We could not be more grateful for the way our community has rallied behind this project as we work diligently to create a space where our students can thrive and connect with each other. Each donation has helped us make this campus a home for so many students. Glory Residence Hall is complete; Roxanna Booth Hall and Gribble Hall are underway, and it wouldn't be possible without YOU.

This Creating Home campaign effort has been one of the most significant in our history. The impact is already being realized, and will continue to be for many years. Thank you.

Chiebuka Soribe, a Davis & Elkins student and Silver Spring, Maryland native, began his summer at the renowned Cannes Film Festival in France as part of the competitive American Pavilion Student Program. A rising senior, English major, film minor, and committed student-athlete, Soribe gained a unique perspective on the global entertainment industry. While balancing a demanding schedule, he interned four hours daily with Storyboard Media at the festival, gaining direct exposure to film, hospitality, and event management operations.
Beyond his daily work assignments, Soribe expanded his professional network by attending panels, private festival events, and screenings of international films, learning directly from leading industry professionals and exploring future career pathways.

Now entering his senior year, Soribe is ready to bring these global insights back to campus as he prepares for his final year of academics and athletics. See what he has to say about his experience below.
“Going to Cannes was an extremely surreal experience. Not only did I get the chance to travel abroad for the first time, but I also got exposed to films from all over the world, made lifelong friends with like-minded individuals, and learned from professionals in the industry. Overall, this experience was life-changing. I learned so much about the business of the film industry, but most importantly, the films I saw have changed the way I see cinema and have only increased my passion for it.”

We’re incredibly proud of everything he’s done and are looking forward to watching him excel in the coming academic year.

The City of Elkins is known for many things. Historically, a plethora of mixed-use trails isn't necessarily one of them, until now that is.
