Meet our newest Cadre member, Technical Sergeant Thomas Wright!
Hailing from Southern California, until he left for the military, our Technical Sergeant has a variety of prior expertise.

He was stationed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii from Aug 2021- Aug 2026 at the 65th Airlift Squadron as an Evaluator Communication Systems Operator for the C-37A. Not only that, he was stationed at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland from 2010 - 2021 at the 1st Airlift Squadron as an Evaluator Communication Systems Operator for the C-32A, C-40B, and C-17A Special Airlift Program.

His main goal for our Detachment to help current and future cadets get everything they can out of the program by using his past experiences and connections into the lessons we teach here (and hopefully getting one of the aircrafts he flew out to the detachment for a visit!).

And, fun fact, he spent his first year in the Air Force was as an AFROTC cadet, but ended up enlisting instead and ended up flying almost 3500 in over 60 countries!✈

Starting off the first LLAB strong with facing movements and basic customs and courtesies. Our new cadets adapted quickly thanks to our AS200s and POC guiding them through procedures.

We can't wait for them to crush their next challenge 💪

Flashback from Spring Quarter!
One thing our detachment loves is a friendly bit of competition. Toilet bowl has long been a way our cadets and army cadets can come together to put our football skills to the test to see who is worthy of the golden toilet bowl. While we share a building, it's not common we can come together for a lighthearted game and get to know each other as we compete! But, of course, there can only be one winner each year.

And, let's just say, it looks real good in our cadre office. We'll see you next year to defend the title

Flashback! Detachment 895 was honored to have high school students come up and get a taste of what our cadets get to do on a daily basis. Cadets paired with in order to bring fun activities such as outdoor games, group leadership projects, and challenging puzzles. With activities both difficult and fun, it's always a treat to have opportunities to share our detachment's culture with these brilliant young minds!

Flag retirement ceremonies are not a way to discard a damaged flag- It's a way to honor the ideals the flag represents and the history of the nation. Our cadets came together, saw a need to retire our detachment's old flag, and acted accordingly to ensure the ceremony was done with the utmost respect all on their own. We are proud of their initiative and dedication to maintaining the values the flag represented through their actions each day.

Well, not all traditions are pretty folks. A handful of our cadets got the chance to participate in the Norweigan Foot March- an 18.6 mile ruck along the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail (formerly the John Wayne trail) with 25 pounds strapped to their back.

This ruck isn't something you can just sign up for on a whim. It takes weeks or months of preperation and a strong resolve to finish it the entire way through. We couldn't be prouder of these cadets for putting on the pack and taking up to the tradition!💪🔥

Detachment 895 was proud to host yet another Joint Force Military Ball. Our cadets worked hard with to bring an enchanting night for our friends and family. With distinguished guests such as our own President of Central Washington University, Dr. Jim Wohlpart, Provost Dr. Patrick Pease and Brigadier General Briar R. Moore. We are incredibly thankful to both of them for sharing their words with our cadets, expressing almost the same level of pride we feel each years as they grow.

Truly a magical night, thank you to everyone who made it possible!
