Taylor Martin ’12 says staying involved with Elon has given him a meaningful way to remain connected to the community and friendships that made such a lasting impact during his time as a student. He shares that serving as co-president of the LA alumni chapter over the past few years has been especially rewarding, particularly helping new alumni find their place in a new city — something he once experienced himself. From planning events to building connections, volunteering continues to be both fulfilling and fun, and he looks forward to remaining involved with the board for years to come.

Our next volunteer spotlight is on Emily Nee ’16 for her continued involvement and support of the Elon alumni community. Emily shares that one of the biggest reasons she continues to volunteer is “because of the community it creates.” Through alumni volunteering, she has built meaningful relationships — including friendships with fellow alumni she never crossed paths with during her time at Elon. Her continued involvement reflects the lasting impact of staying connected to the Elon community.

Thank you to Becky Lane ’95 for the many ways she continues to support and uplift the Elon community. Becky shares that Elon gave her a strong sense of purpose and fulfillment, inspiring her to intentionally combine philanthropy, leadership, and networking through her volunteer efforts. From mentoring students and alumni to supporting internship access through the Women of Elon, Becky’s dedication and enthusiasm continue to create meaningful opportunities for future generations. Long live Elon!

We're putting a spotlight on Carl Hairston ’11 for his continued commitment to serving the Elon community. Carl shares that volunteering is meaningful to him because “Elon University has given me so much, and volunteering is one way I can return the favor.” He previously served on the Elon Young Alumni Council and the Triad Alumni Chapter, and is currently working with fellow alumni from the Sigma Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to plan the chapter’s 35th anniversary celebration during Homecoming. Through his continued engagement and leadership, Carl continues to strengthen connections across the Elon family.

Thank you to Terri Fletcher ’95 for the impact she continues to make through the Elon Black Alumni Network (EBAN). Inspired by Coretta Scott King’s words, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members,” Terri volunteers to help foster meaningful connections and build community among alumni and students alike. Through EBAN, she has established lifelong relationships while serving as part of the village of support that every person needs at some point in life.
