For LaToya Faustin ’04, volunteering with Elon is an opportunity to give back to a university that helped shape her future. As a member of the first class of Odyssey Scholars, she experienced firsthand the impact of Elon’s investment in its students and developed a lifelong commitment to service and leadership. Today, as President of the Elon Alumni Board, LaToya describes her role as a meaningful full-circle moment, allowing her to support future students and alumni while helping steward the future of an institution that has given her so much.

Our next spotlight is on alumni volunteer, Al White ’04. Al says he chose to volunteer with Elon as part of the planning and celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Nu Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He shares that this milestone is an opportunity to “pay homage and reflect on the campus that we all shared through the years.” Through his involvement, Al is helping honor the chapter’s legacy here at Elon.

We are grateful to Alex Xouris ’21 for the care and dedication they bring to the LGBTQ Alumni Network Board. Alex shares that volunteering has allowed them to stay connected with fellow alumni while helping create the best possible experience for LGBTQ students at Elon. Through building community, fostering connection, and giving back with compassion, Alex continues to make a meaningful impact on the Elon family. Long live Elon!

Taylor Martin ’12 says staying involved with Elon has given him a meaningful way to remain connected to the community and friendships that made such a lasting impact during his time as a student. He shares that serving as co-president of the LA alumni chapter over the past few years has been especially rewarding, particularly helping new alumni find their place in a new city — something he once experienced himself. From planning events to building connections, volunteering continues to be both fulfilling and fun, and he looks forward to remaining involved with the board for years to come.

Our next volunteer spotlight is on Emily Nee ’16 for her continued involvement and support of the Elon alumni community. Emily shares that one of the biggest reasons she continues to volunteer is “because of the community it creates.” Through alumni volunteering, she has built meaningful relationships — including friendships with fellow alumni she never crossed paths with during her time at Elon. Her continued involvement reflects the lasting impact of staying connected to the Elon community.
