Meet Evan!

What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned?
The most significant thing I learned is that being kind and creating great relationships with those around you is the most important thing you can do.

Who at Elon were your mentors that had the biggest impact on you and why?
My biggest mentors at Elon were Mark Rinker, Ryan Johnson and Brian Szutowski. Mark Rinker has been my coach for the past two years on the track and cross country team. Ryan Johnson is one of my professors, and I have conducted research with him and been a TLA with him for the past semester. Brian Szutowski is my strength coach. These three men have shown me what hard work can get you in life. Whether that is a job you love, a great family, or simply being a great and respected leader. They have shown me the qualities of proper and professional adults.

Meet Emma!

What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned?
The most significant thing I have learned is how to use my voice effectively, professionally and with full conviction. Before coming to Elon, I was always nervous to speak up. I felt most comfortable observing rather than participating. Elon has provided me space to learn how important my voice and opinions are; they empower not only me, but those I care most about.

Who at Elon were your mentors that had the biggest impact on you and why?
My biggest mentors at Elon are all the professional staff in the Kernodle Center and the CREDE, as well as my research mentors Dr. Thomas Arcaro and Dr. Jae-In Kim. They have all helped shape me professionally, personally, and confidently. I have grown so much as a holistic person during my time at Elon, and none of this growth would have been possible without them. They always offer me a soft place to land, make mistakes and learn. I am truly grateful.

Meet Jonathan!

What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned?
Get involved on campus, even if its something you don't know you want to pursue just test it out. Elon is great in you can take a lot of different and unique classes. Study abroad if you are able to take advantage of that. Take advantage of things going on around campus.

Who at Elon were your mentors that had the biggest impact on you and why?
I worked closely with Dr. Miyamoto in the Pre-Health Society to build a dental cohort and help other pre-dental students know what the expect when they apply. My biology advisor Dr. Bernardy was helpful in guiding me. I was close with chemistry department and a TA from Dr. Karty. Dean Gaither and Dr. Landesberg had an impact on me during my study abroad Holocaust journey which was such a unique experience and shaped who I am.
