At Lorain County Community College, we believe a high-quality education should be accessible, affordable, and rooted in real-world experience. Since 1963, LCCC has empowered students to launch careers, pursue passions and transform their futures, close to home. With more than 100 academic programs, students can build a strong foundation or upskill quickly through our short-term certificates in fie

lds like nursing, IT, engineering technologies, and manufacturing. LCCC’s University Partnership offers bachelor’s and graduate degrees from many Ohio colleges. LCCC also delivers its own applied bachelor’s degrees in microelectronic manufacturing and smart automation. Creatives thrive here, too. From studio art to music performance to theater, students learn from award-winning faculty and perform in top-notch facilities, including a full-size mainstage theater and two black box spaces. Athletes can find their fit with a variety of men’s and women’s intercollegiate and club sports. Our fitness center is open to students to support individual fitness goals. When it’s time to step into the workforce, our Career Services team offers personalized coaching and connects students to local and regional employers through a powerful online job search platform. Transformational leadership starts with putting students at the center — and continually asking how we can do better.

We’re proud to see LCCC President Marcia J. Ballinger, Ph.D. featured by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program alongside community college leaders from across the country, sharing perspectives on leadership, transformation and the evolving role of community colleges.

As Dr. Ballinger shares in this video, the work extends beyond access and completion to what happens next: helping students translate their education into meaningful careers, economic mobility and stronger futures.

That commitment continues to shape the work we do at LCCC every day.

Preparing leaders to drive transformational change is at the heart of the Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship. In this video, Aspen leaders, fellowship mentors, and alumni share how the fellowship equips community college leaders to use research, data, and proven strategies to improve student success...

If you were the near Lab Sciences building early morning last week, you may have come across this exciting activity taking place outside: Students worked together and used sidewalk chalk to create large diagrams of the heart! Why?

"Cardiovascular physiology can be difficult for students because there are so many structures and pathways happening at the same time. When they physically draw the heart, trace the movement of blood, and work through the electrical pathway themselves, the concepts tend to make much more sense." - Robin Dahman, Assistant Professor M.S. Chemical & Life Science
