The details are what separate a good cabinet install from a great one. 👌

One thing we really appreciate about the custom cabinets built right here in Emmetsburg by Buhrow Construction and Custom Cabinetry is that they come with all the finishing details already color matched, scribe pieces, crown molding, toe kick, shoe molding, and other profiles.

Those pieces let us dial everything in:
✔️ Close gaps at walls
✔️ Finish off toe kicks cleanly
✔️ Add crown to the uppers
✔️ Hide end grain
✔️ Leave a polished final product

👀 spot the way the scribe, shoe molding, and baseboard all come together in the corner! 👀

It’s those small details that make a big difference. 🔨

The students this year had a great time installing all these pieces and paying attention to every detail!

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. My dad, a fellow Iowa Lakes grad, taught my students bricklaying! Every brick they laid carried a piece of family legacy and pride. This is what building a future looks like.

Yesterday, we brought construction to life at Fairmont High School for the ACE (Area Career Exploration) event! Around a dozen schools brought 10th graders to the event where local businesses, industries, and colleges came together for hands-on learning. Big thanks to Sashco for sponsoring our blindfolded caulking challenge! These students are building their future one skill at a time!

From dreams to blueprints to reality.....five years of craftsmanship. Each project built with student dedication, and as we near the finish line, a new chapter awaits in Rockport this fall. Proud of every student who’s walked through our doors; building a legacy one academic year at a time.

Build My Future, Spencer’s first time hosting this event and it did not disappoint.

We put students to the test with a blindfolded caulking challenge (try hitting 24” when you can’t see 😅) and a timed race to drive 3 nails + 3 screws as fast as possible.
Let’s just say…some serious skills showed up.

Morning and afternoon champs walked away with some pretty sweet prize packs including bag chairs, hats, and a pile of swag.

Huge thank you to for donating the sealants, top-notch caulking guns, and extra swag that made the caulking challenge possible!

Hands-on experiences like this are what it’s all about; getting students in it, trying things out, and seeing what they’re capable of.

Great day, and we’re already looking forward to next year.

Started with walls to carry the load...
turned into a full mezzanine with stairs and railing.

Built from the ground up for Moving Veterans Forward by this crew from start to finish.

Walls, joists, and sheathing in one day 😳 (just over 1,500 ft²)

Stairs built in 90 minutes… another 90 to install them and finish the railing.

The kind of efficiency that comes from students who know what they’re doing.

Proud of the work, and even more proud of who it serves.🇺🇸

Iowa Lakes Community College is grieving following a tragic bus accident involving our baseball team. On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the team’s bus crashed on Highway 4 near Twin Lakes, Iowa, resulting in one fatality and injuries to 32 others. The team was en route to Arkansas for a series of scheduled games.

Please keep the team, coaches, staff, faculty, friends, and families of everyone involved and affected in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
