This past Emporia First Friday we had our community mural painting event as a collaboration with Emporia State STEM Outreach for their involvement with ARISS - Amateur Radio on the International Space Station. This mural was meant to depict the upcoming event (happening TOMORROW!) where ESU Stem will communicate with an astronaut that is currently in a space station. This is a very select opportunity and we are so excited to have been apart of it! Thank you to Dr. Erika Martin, Mark Brown, and Stephanie Alaniz for making this happen!

Mural was designed by ESU Art Program Painting and Art Ed student Ayden Young and was facilitated during EFF by Art Therapy graduate students Chelsea Mock-Johnson and her peers during EFF. The community was also invited to paint laser cut stars that will be adhered to the canvas to fill up the space sky!

Please swing by tomorrow morning at Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center At Emporia State University to see this finished mural in person as well as hear the conversation that will take place with NASA astronauts! You won't want to miss it. Please see attached image for more information. Enjoy these in progress pictures from this past Friday's event. 😀

This mural will be permanently installed at ESU's Science Hall lobby.
