IT Alert: Outages expected on Jan. 4 during maintenance

IT will perform maintenance on systems beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4. Work will continue through 7 p.m. During this time, most systems will be offline or experience intermittent outages. Cloud-based systems like Gmail, Microsoft 365 (Outlook/Teams) and Canvas should not be impacted although users should log in prior to the maintenance beginning. Banner and related systems including Self-Service Banner, Student Financial Center, Academic Life, OnBase, Degree Works and Cognos will be offline.

Internet access on campus will intermittently not be available.

Cloud-based systems like Gmail, Microsoft 365 (Outlook/Teams) and Canvas should not be impacted although users should log in prior to the maintenance beginning. Banner and related systems including Self-Service Banner, Student Financial Center, Academic Life, OnBase, Degree Works and Cognos will be offline.

Due to scheduled maintenance of the ESU telephone system, the numbers for the IT Help Desk, (620)341-5555, and the main campus line, (620)341-1200, are temporarily unavailable. For the IT Help Desk or assistance reaching a department or individual on campus, please call (620)341-5060. All other phone numbers are operational.

ESU IT is monitoring a vendor issue causing Duo login failures to Microsoft 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.). This is impacting students and employees. Stay tuned for further updates.

Testing of DR systems is now complete. Internet access on campus has been restored and all IT systems are back to normal operation.

🔴UPDATED: The IT testing of disaster recovery systems will now begin at 9:00 PM and be completed by 11:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023. The impacted services have not changed.

During the maintenance window, off campus users will not be able to access systems hosted in ESU's datacenter including Banner, OnBase, Student Financial Center, etc. The public website (emporia.edu), Hornet 365, Outlook, Teams, Canvas and other cloud services will remain available if you are off campus.

Users on campus during the outage will not be able to access the internet or any IT systems.

ESU Campus Internet Outage - June 13, 2023

ESU's internet service provider will be doing emergency maintenance tonight from 10 PM to midnight. During this time users from off campus will not be able to access the public website (emporia.edu) or log in to ESU systems including Canvas, SSB and others. Access to Microsoft 365 and Google, including Outlook, Gmail, Teams and OneDrive will not be impacted. Access to the internet and all systems from on campus will not be impacted during the outage. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the IT Help Desk if you have any questions.
