The First Amendment and the War on Terror at the Dawn of the Trump Administration.

Constitution Day lecture with Prof. Raban in room 184. Noon -1 pm.

Today we celebrate Constitution Day! Constitution Day is actually on Sunday, Sept. 17th, but the day is celebrated on the adjacent weekday when it falls on a weekend. Constitution Day was created in 2004 when Sen. Robert Byrd proposed an amendment to the Omnibus spending bill. In 2005, the US Department of Education announced that this law requires that any school receiving federal funding provide some kind of educational programming related to the American Constitution on Constitution Day. Traditionally, UO Law has taken on this responsibility because the rest of the university is not yet in session on Constitution Day. We don’t mind. We like to talk about the Constitution, and cake is a bonus.
