Shout out to our largest Wishmakers On Campus partner Sigma Chi - Beta Iota Chapter at the Fraternity and Sorority Life - University of Oregon for kicking off their annual Derby Days philanthropy event! Hey everyone, this upcoming Saturday we are having our annual Alumni Tailgate event! The Ducks take on the Wildcats at 4, so be sure to give yourself enough time to stop by, talk with some of the brothers, and enjoy some of the food courtesy of Chef Scott! We will be hosting the tailgate right by the 3rd base bullpen at PK Park (where it was last year). Hope to see you guys there!

The active brothers decided to do the challenge to support and help spread awareness for our fellow duck Osiel Mendoza's cause. We nominated all Sigma Chi chapters, all Beta Iota alumni, Drew Brees, and Ty Burrell.

Yesterday, United States Navy Ensign Verdi Sederstrom, a Beta Iota alumni, 1940, who was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, was finally laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The Statesman Journal reported that until recently identified, Sederstrom’s remains were among others interred in common graves in Hawaii. All honor to his name.

Navy Ensign Verdi D. Sederstrom waits more than 75 years for his final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery.

Yesterday Sigma Chi lost a treasure with the passing of our brother Thomas "Mike" Speer '58. Mike was a behind the scenes guy for our chapter for many years but was a Life Loyal Sig and recognized by our General Fraternity as a recipient of the Seven Lights Alumni Award for service to our fraternity and specifically our chapter. For those of us who had the pleasure to know Mike he lived the values stated in our Creed his entire life and there will be a hole that will remain unfilled as he joins our brother and close friend Bob Warr '61 in the Chapter Eternal. With strong arms my brother...
