Dylan Raiola is facing unexpected competition at Oregon Ducks football, as he battles Brock Thomas for the backup quarterback role heading into the 2026 season.

Raiola transferred to Oregon with the expectation of stepping in as the clear No. 2 option behind Dante Moore. However, that plan has quickly shifted, with Thomas emerging as a serious contender during Spring Ball and making a strong case to hold onto the QB2 spot. As things stand, Raiola could potentially begin the season as the third-string quarterback if the current momentum continues.

College football analyst George Wrighster III highlighted Thomas' growing presence within the program, noting that his decision to throw to Oregon receivers during Pro Day speaks volumes about the trust and chemistry he has already built with the team. According to Wrighster, Raiola will have to earn his place on the depth chart, as nothing is being handed out in Eugene.

Thomas already proved his value during the 2025 season, where he established himself as the primary backup following the departures of Austin Novosad and Luke Moga via the transfer portal. He saw extended action against Wisconsin, where he stepped in and delivered a solid performance, recording 46 passing yards and a touchdown in relief.

Meanwhile, Raiola is also working his way back from a fibula injury, adding another layer of difficulty to the competition. What was once expected to be a straightforward backup role has now turned into a highly competitive quarterback battle, with both players pushing each other as Oregon prepares for the upcoming season.

DYLAN RAIOLA: Ready to be the Face of Oregon football.. 🦆

Oregon QB Dylan Raiola says he doesn’t need permission to wear the Ducks’ iconic No. 8, the same number once worn by Heisman winner Marcus Mariota and former QB Dillon Gabriel.

“I don’t need permission to wear my number.”

— QB Dylan Raiola, when asked why he was wearing Marcus Mariota’s jersey #8

Raiola is expected to back up Dante Moore this season, with the Ducks hoping he eventually takes over the offense in the future.

Head Coach Dan Lanning says “He’s learning the system well… a cerebral player that can make the throws.” on Raiola taking over the offense with ease.

REGGIE MILLER: Upsets Caitlin Clark with NBA comparison on live TV..

“She reminds me of Payton Pritchard.”

— Reggie Miller

During the broadcast of Sunday Night Basketball on NBC, Reggie Miller sparked instant backlash after comparing WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark to Celtics guard Payton Pritchard.

Miller said the comparison was based on ball-handling, fearlessness, and clutch shot-making, praising Pritchard’s ability to hit big shots late in the clock. Earlier in the broadcast, Miller even called Clark the “best shooter in Indiana,” joking that he ranked third behind her and Tyrese Haliburton.

But the moment landed very differently on social media.

Cameras caught Clark’s smile immediately drop into a deadpan scowl when Pritchard’s name was mentioned. The clip went viral within minutes, with fans reading it as shock or outright offense, given Clark’s usual comparisons to Stephen Curry and other all-time greats.

• Paul Pierce questioned the comparison, pointing out Clark’s gravity, defensive attention, and cultural impact far exceed that of a role player.

• Fans labeled the take “disrespectful,” arguing Clark is a generational talent and face of a league, not a niche comparison.

• Defenders, including Danny Green, said Miller was strictly talking playstyle mechanics, not status or legacy.

What Reggie meant as a compliment turned into one of the most debated comparisons of the season, highlighting just how big Caitlin Clark’s stature has already become.

Bo Nix has quickly become one of the NFL’s most outspoken faith-driven quarterbacks.

Throughout his rookie season with the Denver Broncos, Nix has consistently pointed to his relationship with God as the foundation for his confidence, perspective, and gratitude — win or lose. Even while sidelined with a broken ankle during Denver’s playoff loss, Nix made it clear that his faith remains bigger than any result on the field.

In postgame comments, Nix thanked Broncos Country for their support and emphasized that honoring God isn’t tied to outcomes.

Nix has said that faith isn’t about guarantees or statistics, but about recognizing that God is worthy of praise regardless of the scoreboard. His focus remains on growth, gratitude, and returning stronger next season grounded in belief, not circumstance.

Williams, who signed a reported $6 million NIL deal with Washington, shocked many around the program when he still entered the transfer portal shortly after finalizing the agreement. The move sparked speculation about his future and raised questions about the stability of NIL-era commitments.

Just days later, Williams reversed course and announced he would remain with the Huskies due to the legal contract that he signed but Williams wanted to assure everyone that he wasn’t coming back due to threat of legal action but for his quarterback development.

“I chose to stay after realizing that Washington football offers the best opportunity to develop my NFL talent,” Williams said when asked why he decided to return.

Sources close to the situation say Williams used the portal process to reassess his value, development path, and long-term NFL goals. After conversations with coaches and people in his camp, he ultimately concluded that Washington’s system, staff, and resources still gave him the best chance to succeed at the next level.

With Williams back in the fold, Washington keeps one of the most high-profile quarterback commitments in the country — and a reminder of how unpredictable the modern NIL and transfer portal landscape has become.
