The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division is accepting applications for the Enforcement Internship Program (Fall 2023). The application deadline is August 14th, 2023.

The internship will span approximately five months from August to December. Internship requirements are listed below. We assure this internship program will benefit your students as they pursue a career in criminal justice. For any further information or query regarding the internship, contact Corporal Anthony Corner via email ([email protected]) or phone (318) 305 7252.

Program Overview
LDWF is proud to collaborate with area colleges and universities to extend the privilege of internship experiences. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division Internship Program is very dynamic and offers college students some of the best experience and training available. LDWF exposes its student interns to a vast array of experiences within the Enforcement Division.

Students receive hands-on experience in the areas of administrative procedure, patrol techniques, criminal investigations, and outreach roles of a Wildlife Agent. The majority of intern’s duties are to observe and job shadow but the intern will have outlined time to train and work as well. It is our intention to provide a comprehensive learning experience; however, we cannot guarantee the exact experiences an intern will receive due to the cyclical nature of law enforcement activities and the unpredictability of criminal activity. An internship experience with LDWF is very rich and rewarding experience. Interns will have the opportunity to compare and contrast academic instruction with real-life situations.

Internship Requirements
The student must:
1. Be enrolled in a partnering College or University.
2. Be enrolled in partnering College or University’s Internship Course and eligible to receive course credit for the Enforcement Internship Program.
3. Be in good academic standing with the College.
4. Be recommended to LDWF by the College Faculty or Career Services Staff.
5. Be eligible to seek legal employment in the United States or satisfy requirements for practical training in accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

LSUE Criminal Justice student Jacie Bernard (second from left) completed an extensive internship with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division during the Fall 2022 semester. During her 15-week internship, Jacie was exposed to various facets of a career as a conservation law enforcement officer, including: hunting and fishing regulatory enforcement, hunting and boater safety, fish and wildlife preservation, and general law enforcement. Through job shadowing, ride alongs, and administrative reviews, Jacie participated in many of the daily activities carried out by LDWF Wildlife Agents.
