Today, the College of the Redwoods Police Academy, Class 138, and Fire Academy, Class 11, came together to observe a moment of silence in solemn remembrance of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

We honor the courage, dedication, and selfless service demonstrated by the first responders who ran toward danger while others were fleeing. Their sacrifice serves as a lasting reminder of the responsibility carried by those who choose a career dedicated to protecting and serving others.

As future law enforcement officers and firefighters, the cadets of Classes 138 and 11 recognize the importance of remembering those who came before us and honoring the legacy they left behind.

We remember their sacrifice. We honor their service. We will never forget.

Class 138 received instruction in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Tactical Medicine (TacMed). As law enforcement officers, they are often the first to arrive on scene and must be prepared to provide immediate lifesaving care. This training equips the cadets with the knowledge and skills to administer first aid, stabilize injured individuals, and respond effectively until personnel with a higher level of medical training arrive.

Class 138 began its journey into Lifetime Fitness by establishing their baseline fitness levels. Cadets completed one-minute push-up and sit-up assessments, as well as a timed 1.5-mile run, to measure their current level of physical fitness and provide a benchmark for tracking their progress throughout the Academy.
Lifetime Fitness is about much more than improving physical performance. The program also emphasizes the importance of developing healthy eating habits, proper nutrition, recovery, and overall wellness. These lessons are designed to help cadets build lifelong habits that will support their health, resilience, and effectiveness throughout their law enforcement careers.
