In case you missed it in this week's newsletter, we are now accepting Exec Board applications for the new board!
We encourage anyone and everyone to apply, if you have been wanting to become more involved in MIXED but weren’t sure how, this is the perfect way to do it! And don’t just take my word for it, listen to our current Programming Chair, Brennen Bariso:
“If you’re debating whether or not you should run for exec, you definitely should! I ran for exec after only going to a few meetings and was elected and now MIXED is my favorite group that I am a part of. I’m applying to be on exec again this year and would love to work with you all!”
For your reference, the current board consists of 4 positions: President, Treasurer, Programming Chair, and Marketing Chair. Here are some brief descriptions of the positions to give you a sense of the responsibilities of each role.
The Programming Chair is responsible for planning MIXED events. They reach out to people outside of MIXED to promote events and collaborate with other student groups. The Programming Chair is responsible for corresponding with others on behalf of MIXED, as well as new member outreach.
The Marketing Chair is responsible for internal and external communication of MIXED and our events. This includes the newsletter to the listerv, which keeps members up to date on MIXED, as well as informing them of events going on around campus. Marketing is also responsible for creating Facebook event pages for meetings and other MIXED events, flyers for on campus advertising, as well as managing the MIXED Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The Treasurer is responsible for all of MIXED’s finances. This involves reimbursements, deposits, and maintaining the budget. All of these things will be done at the Student Organization Finance Office (SOFO) in Norris, so the Treasurer will need to be SOFO trained (this can be done after elections). The Treasurer is also in charge of the planning and ex*****on of fundraising efforts.
The President oversees the organization as a whole by directing activities, setting up and leading officer meetings, supervising the other officer positions and members, and heading general member meetings. The President oversees the planning, programming, and developing/training of the executive board. The position requires a heavier time commitment consisting of several meetings a week with the exec board, club advisers, and other student leaders. In addition, the President must also be SOFO trained (this can be done after elections) and must sign off on all transactions that are made.
If you are interested in applying to a position on the 2018-2019 MIXED Exec Board, please email Natasha ([email protected]) indicating the position(s) you are running for, along with a bio/platform (1-2 paragraphs) that will be included on the document when we vote next week. Please submit your application before 5PM on Sunday, March 4. Feel free to contact anyone on exec if you have any questions.
