THIS THURSDAY at 5pm in UH 201: Amin Ahmad (English, Artist in Residence) will explore storytelling, narrative structure and mythology in and around The Handmaid’s Tale. John Alba Cutler (English, Latino and Latina Studies) will talk about borders, surveillance, and the novel’s rendition of the performative theatrics associated with licit and illicit border crossings. Kelly Wisecup (English, Center for Native American and Indigenous Research, American Studies) will reflect on will reflect on the absences and presences of Native American lands and people in the novel and in Atwood’s public comments.
