Coming from a wide array of educational, profession, and cultural backgrounds, students in the Higher Education Administration and Policy Program are bright, passionate, and committed. Students may be pursuing the master's degree to launch their careers in higher education or to change from another career field. Other students already work in

higher education administration and pursue the degree to advance their careers. The broad curriculum and internship opportunities provide students with the theory and real-world knowledge of higher education that make them experts in the field. Besides the core courses on the fundamentals of higher education (like Budget and Finance, History and Philosophy of Higher Education, and Higher Education Policy) students choose from a variety of elective courses. Electives include: Assessment in Higher Education, Global and Comparative Higher Education, Enrollment Management, and Career Counseling and Psychology. The internship opportunities complement these classes by enabling students to put theories from class into practice. Students also utilize their internship experiences to explore different careers in higher education, enhance their employment credentials, and build their professional networks. Internship placements include: academic advising, alumni relations and development, athletics administration, career services, fraternity and sorority life, and strategic planning and change management. Alumni of the MSHE program work in colleges and universities, governmental agencies and consulting firms involved in higher education.
