Just some horsing around on a beautiful Friday with ! We welcomed Tinkerbell and Spirit, miniature therapy horses with , to give our students a little neighhhborly love as the academic year winds down. Dripped out in purple, these sweethearts drew Clydesdale-sized crowds and, we hope, eased a bit of the spring quarter stressors. Think they’ll stick around for ?

We love a Wildcat Tony Nomination moment! Congratulations to Ana Gasteyer (C89), who got the nod for best performance by an actress in a featured role in a musical for “Schmigadoon!” Also in the 12-time-nominated show is Maulik Pancholy (C95), who plays the Reverend. Abby Doermann (C19) is its marketing manager (and the same for “Giant,” which received four nominations including best play). Whitney White (WCAS08), who participated in ’s music theatre certificate, got a huge nod for best direction of a play for “Liberation.” Geoffrey Ko (C17) is the music director for “Titanique,” which is up for best new musical. More affiliated ‘Cats: Zachary Baer (C10), executive producer on “Oedipus” and “Dog Day Afternoon”; Chloe Nadon-Enriquez (C19), swing on “Chess”; Cameron Miya (BSM22), music assistant on “Two Strangers”; Ian Weinberger (BS09), music director of “Chess”; and Adam Rothenberg (BSM15), in the orchestra of “Chess.” Congratulations to all our talented -ers and our friends in and ! 📸: Matthew Murphy and Andrew Zimmerman (“Schmigadoon,” pictured)

In the pantheon of crooning “deans,” we’ve got Dean Martin, Jimmy Dean, and, of course, Dean E. Patrick Johnson. Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for Dean Johnson’s Love Songs for the Wintry Blues show. Charlie in Charge: Actor and writer (C19) visited an senior capstone class this week to share advice, encouragement, and abundant laughs. The former RTVF major has a number of projects in development, including a comedy series on Hulu called “C-League.” But he was on his A-game with these entertainment and media capstone students (taught by Catherine Carrigan), inspiring them to try everything, keep learning, and just have fun. “Every time you have a unique perspective on anything,” he told them, “that’s good.”

We have two info sessions on the horizon, and we’d love to see you at one or both. “Get Involved in Research” is a workshop for students looking to match with a lab mentor and will provide guidance on figuring out interests, identifying labs, and making introductions. “Fund Your Undergraduate Research” is for those already working in a lab (or have a mentor) and who seek guidance on how to write a research proposal.
