This week, Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center, hosted at USI in the Kinney College, was honored to present the 2026 Outstanding Preceptor Award to Sally Bodensteiner, MD FHC, a provider at the Family Health Center in Vincennes.

Krista Kercher, Clinical Coordinator with Southwest Indiana AHEC, says Dr. Bodensteiner has demonstrated an "exceptional commitment" to medical education. "Year after year, she consistently welcomes students into her practice, providing them with meaningful experiences and opportunities to learn, grow and connect with the vulnerable population she serves," she says. "Her dedication goes beyond teaching medicine. She serves as a mentor, role model and advocate for our students, helping them better understand the importance of community-based care and the impact they will have on rural and underserved communities."

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Bodensteiner's continued partnership with AHEC and her unwavering dedication to our future medical professionals.

Southwest Indiana AHEC, one of nine regional centers of the Indiana AHEC Network, has a mission to improve health by recruiting, educating and retaining healthcare professionals in underserved communities.
