Last night we celebrated our graduating members at our final meeting of the semester! Congratulations to the UWRF pre-vet club class of 2026: Madisyn Jacobson, Taylor DuMond, Rachel Kotalik, Kylie Beilke, Morgan Ann Stadler, and Jen Ponczoch.

We wish you the best of luck as you all start the next chapter of your lives!

Over spring break, members participated in our Trailblazers trip! This trip included visiting the vet schools at Iowa State University, University of Missouri, and University of Illinois! Iowa included a trip to the campus and their classrooms, while Illinois had our students seeing their classrooms, axolotl, and their wildlife rehab area. In Missouri, students even had their tour led by a current vet student---and a UWRF alum! And of course, there was an important stop at Waffle House to refuel. Students learned more about vet schools in the Midwest, helping them make better decisions when they apply!

Last Thursday was a busy one for our members! Former UWRF professor Dr. Hergenrader returned to campus to hold mock vet school interviews in the morning. Then, in the evening, he taught students simple interrupted and simple continuous suture patterns --- valuable skills for any aspiring veterinarians!

Additionally, another group of pre-vet students traveled ro to the Dunn County Humane Society to observe spays and neuters performed on different shelter animals!

We are so thankful to both Dr. Hergenrader and the staff at Dunn County Humane Society took the time out of their busy schedules to help UWRF Pre-Vet Club members 🐄

The Pre-Vet Club is hosting a T-shirt fundraiser from now until April 14th! Each shirt is $25 and helps support all of the fun and educational wet labs and other experiences our club offers. Be sure to share this fun design with friends and family! All shirt pick-ups will be available either at our last meeting on May 4th at 7 PM or can be shipped to you for a fee 🐾

Last weekend, our members faced the storms and headed to Louisiana State University's College of Veterinary Medicine for the 2026 APVMA Symposium! Our members participated in various labs, such as suturing and clinical skills, and Ashlyn presented her own research at the research fair. Additionally, students were able to connect and speak with various veterinary schools and organizations, as well as future employers. Members also had the opportunity to network and connect with pre-veterinary students across the country! Overall, this year's APVMA Symposium was a total success, and we are so thankful for the invaluable experiences this opportunity provided. Stay tuned for our other fun and educational trips!

We are selling calendars filled with pictures of our members' pets and fun animal facts! Today, 13 Pre-Vet members participated in an equine necropsy following the ANSC 369 class!

They inspected major systems such as the gastrointestinal tract and also identified various organs. Our students gained valuable insights from this hands-on experience---be sure to look out for more labs we'll be hosting!

Last week, 16 of our students attended the APVMA Symposium at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee! This two-day event brings pre-vet students together for hands-on labs, lectures, and networking opportunities.

Our students participated in labs such as equine IV/IM injections, bovine dystocia, and suturing, gaining valuable hands-on experience. They also had the chance to connect with other pre-vet students and explore different veterinary programs.

What an incredible opportunity to learn more about the field of veterinary medicine! 🩺🐾
