’s Garrett Totten is a National Champion! This past March, the junior Civil Engineering major reached the top of the podium to claim the NCAA Division III title at 133 lbs.

His championship run was defined by a 22-match win streak and a mindset built on pure discipline. That same focus carries over into his studies, where he also earned Scholar All-America honors for his academic achievements in one of the most demanding majors on campus.

students recently had the opportunity to hear from Rob Hickman ’11, Chief Administrative Officer of the Gateway Development Commission, during a technical seminar on the Gateway Program.

As a key leader for one of the nation’s most significant infrastructure projects, Hickman shared his expertise on the complex policy and construction challenges involved in building the Hudson Tunnel Project.

Our thanks to Prof. William Healey from 's Department of Political Science and Master in Public Policy Program for facilitating this cross-disciplinary dialogue and providing our students with an invaluable professional perspective.

Congratulations to 's Sathya Kummarapurugu ’27 on being named a 2026 Goldwater Scholar!

Out of nearly 1,500 nominees nationwide, Sathya was one of only 454 students selected for this prestigious honor. His work in computational research and deep brain stimulation is paving the way for new treatments for neurological diseases.

Learn more about the research he began conducting alongside TCNJ faculty as a first-year biomedical engineering student, as well as his upcoming internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, at the link below.

Congratulations to our mechanical engineering seniors for their standout performance at the 2026 ASME e-Human Powered Vehicle Challenge hosted by the University of Central Florida. Competing against talented teams from across the country, our Lions earned first place in the design category, as well as third place in endurance and overall.

This success is a testament to months of rigorous drafting, building, and testing. We are incredibly proud of Matthew Amadio, Aidan Epply-Schmidt, Asid Khadam, Andrew Kromidas, and Chris Philburn for their hard work and innovation. Special thanks to faculty advisor Dr. Ardeshir Tabrizi for his guidance throughout the project.

A year ago, Chris Baker '26, Cole Huetz '26, and Brielle Zemer '26 barely knew what photonics was. Today, they are building a prototype 'laser micro-printer' and heading to graduate school to pursue careers in a field that impacts everything from biomedical devices to anti-counterfeiting tech.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration here at , these three mechanical engineering seniors transformed a shared curiosity into professional research, collaborating with industry giants like Thorlabs and presenting at major conferences.

Four teams recently showcased their biomedical engineering senior capstone projects at the 2026 Northeast Bioengineering Conference (NEBEC)!

From women’s health to advanced orthopedics, these students are redefining what’s possible in medical technology. This year’s innovative lineup included:

🔹 A wearable digital biomarker for COPD patients that monitors cough severity and type to help catch early signs of pneumonia.
🔹 An adaptive carbon-composite ankle orthosis that uses integrated motors to provide variable resistance throughout the recovery process.
🔹A noninvasive wrist-worn device designed to track menstrual phases through continuous physiological monitoring.

🏆 A special congratulations to the Hand Orthopedic Motion Evaluator (H.O.M.E.) team, whose project earned Second Place Overall for the Undergraduate Senior Design Awards. H.O.M.E. is a motion-capture platform and resistance glove system that brings clinic-quality hand rehab into the home.

👏 Shoutout to team members Hisham Aboelnour, Jasmine Adams, Stephanie Frolio, Jeremy Liegner, and their advisor Dr. Brett BuSha.

Congratulations to all our students who showcased their hard work at yesterday's Celebration of Student Achievement!

With over 150 of our students presenting their work throughout the day, the energy was incredible. We were especially honored to welcome Dr. Ernel Simpson, VP of Global Research & Development at TerraCycle US.

TerraCycle sponsors an annual Innovation Award for sustainability named after Dr. Simpson, and he was on hand to personally congratulate this year’s winners.
