Iota Gamma Chapter was chartered on the Trenton State College (The College of New Jersey) campus in 1970. The first pledge line was “The Founding Five” assisted by Dean of Pledges Brother Dennis May from Beta Chapter ‘66, Lincoln University. Iota Gamma Chapter was the first undergraduate historically black Greek letter organization in the State of New Jersey and led the way for the establishment o

f other undergraduate charters of this type. Lonesome has been a guiding force and advisor. In 1977, the first line to pledge at Rider College (Rider University) was “Five to Survive”. McElroy, Esq. was instrumental in expanding the membership and advising the brothers at Rider and Trenton State College. Brother James “Butter” Allen carried on the tradition of leadership fostered by brothers McElroy and Lonesome in serving as Chapter undergraduate advisor through the 1980’s. Finally, close ties and kinship with the Delta Upsilon Graduate Chapter of Trenton, New Jersey helped to cultivate an immersion of the “True Omega Spirit” within the Iota Gamma family.
