Phi Mu Alpha - Theta Eta Chapter Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the world's oldest and largest fraternal society in music.

Sinfonia was born on October 6, 1898 at the New England Conservatory in Boston, when a group of thirteen young men under the guidance of Ossian Everett Mills met "to consider the social life of the young men students of that institution" and "to devise ways and means by which it might be improved." Mills, bursar of the Conservatory, sought to create an Order in which men with a shared love of musi

c could develop the virtues of manhood in themselves and in their fellows. Sinfonia became a national fraternity on October 6, 1900, with the admission of a group of men at the Broad Street Conservatory in Philadelphia. Since that time Sinfonia has grown into the largest music fraternity in the world, with more than 150,000 initiates, and chapters on over 200 college and university campuses across the nation.

Additionally, we held Ceremonies for our Graduating Brothers: Richard Meyers (Fall ‘21), Cameron Pemberton (Fall ‘22), and Luke Barga (Fall ‘22)!

Richard and Luke are both graduating with Bachelor of Music Degrees in Music Education and plan to join the workforce!

Cameron is graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degrees in Trombone Performance. He is beginning his Master of Music Degrees in Trombone Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in the Fall! .sinfonia

Today, we are highlighting our newly initiated brothers!

Our Chi Probationary Class ended with the initiation of Theta Eta brothers 210-213, continuing the chapter’s over 50 year legacy! Say hello to our four new Sinfonian Brothers; Tyler, Isaac, Donnie, and Mason!

All four of these men are already making a name for themselves as performers and educators, and we look forward to seeing what they’re able to accomplish as students and Sinfonians ❤️🖤💛

The Theta Eta chapter hosted its 2nd MMM this semester on 4/29 at Dayton Children’s Hospital!

φΜΑ Sinfonia’s National Philanthropy is the Ossian Everett Mills Music Mission (MMM), where Brothers perform music for nursing home and hospital patients/residents to uplift spirits. These missions are generally accompanied by gifting beautiful chrysanthemums and connecting with the residents and patients through personal stories and 1-on-1 conversations.

The Theta Eta chapter has remained committed to hosting 1-2 MMMs per semester in order to better serve our community by continuing the work of our founder on a regular basis!
