🎬 Coming Tomorrow: Instagram Takeover with Kenge BaNikongo!

Join Kenge BaNikongo ('21), a George Mason alumni of the School of Theater and Film and Video Studies Program , during her Mason Arts Instagram Takeover to share a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Wingz," her original comedy-drama series exploring family, identity, and a magical twist on everyday life.

A writer, director, producer, and recipient of the 2026 Young Alumni Commissioning Award (YACP), Kenge will take followers inside her creative process ahead of the upcoming screening of "Sight," the pilot episode of "Wingz."

The countdown is on. Just one week remains to apply for the 2026-2027 Young Alumni Commissioning Project Grant!

George Mason University's College of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to support the continued artistic development of our alumni through the Young Alumni Commissioning Project. Grants are awarded to recent alumni to help bring new artistic works to life.

Eligible applicants include CVPA graduates from the Class of 2016 or later, certificate holders, double majors, recognized minors, eligible collaborative teams, and qualifying current George Mason staff.

⏳ Applications close Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Join us for a special screening of "Sight", the pilot episode of "Wingz", an original comedy-drama created by CVPA alumna and 2026 Young Alumni Commissioning Project (YACP) award recipient Kenge BaNikongo (BA Theater, BA Film and Video Studies ’21).

Following the screening, BaNikongo will participate in a Q&A moderated by Professor Ben Steger of the Film and Video Studies Program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

In "Flare: Finding a Sense of Place in the Chronically Ill Body," artist Brianna Camp (BFA ’23) explores the realities of living with chronic illness through observations of the ever-changing landscape at Royal Lake in Fairfax, VA. A Young Alumni Commissioning Project award recipient, Camp’s work invites us to reconsider how we relate to our bodies through compassion, change, and resilience.

Go behind the scenes of a world premiere 🎭

In this interview, director Megan Lederman and playwright Bella Panciocco share how "The Road to the End" evolved from script to stage, highlighting the vital role of design in shaping the story. With lighting by Merin Lemoine and sound by Elisabeth Dupuy, the production comes alive in deeply emotional and immersive ways. Their design supports performances by Aadith Iyer, Jessica Nguyen, and Sage Munson.
